Just Messing Around Camden, Again!

WEATHER:  Overcast most of the day, with occasional brightening

The Schooner Mary Day Ready to Sail
This morning, the Schooner Mary Day was scheduled to sail from Camden at around 10:30 AM, so  as is our usual custom, we planned our arrival in Camden in time to see her depart on a 3 day voyage on Penobscot Bay.  The next time she departs Camden, the good Lord willing, and the Bay don't rise, we'll be aboard for a 6 day adventure.

Jannie at Marriners
After the Schooner Mary Day had departed we headed over to Marriner's for a late breakfast out on their deck, arriving at about 11:30 AM.

The Appledore

After breakfast we split up, Jannie terrorizing the local merchants, and me, with camera in hand, still trying to impress the editor's at National Geographic, took a walking tour of Camden. Hopefully I got some decent shots.

Farmer Jannie
Reuniting again in the afternoon, we set off  to to see some old friends we've made during our previous trips to Maine.  First we stopped at Duck Trap Kayak in Lincolnville Beach to see Dan and Lorraine, who we first met in 1996 when they were still renting cabins.  Lorraine amazed us with her gardening, or more accurately her farming  skills. While there, Jannie again got the urge to work in the fields.

Next we headed back to Camden and the Birchwood Motel, also located on Route 1.  There we spent some time with  Eric and Jenny, with whom we've also stayed with.

Once visiting was over, we drove to Reny's, a local chain selling great stuff at great prices; then on to Maine Sport, just to check it out; no purchases this time.

Jannie at the Helm
After such a busy day, we finished up at The Helm for dinner, then it was back to Appleton for the night.
